What to Prepare
2 cups of whole wheat flour
1 cup oats
1/3 cup of peanut butter
1 and 1/4 cup of hot water
Most of the peanut butter sold in supermarkets is sweetened, but for dogs, use unsweetened peanut butter.
Preparation
Mix whole wheat flowers and oats in a large bowl and peanut butter and hot water in another bowl. Pour a mixture of bonnut butter and hot water into the bowl of flour and mix them all. If the dough becomes sticky, add additional flour.
Squeeze the dough to make it round. Wrap the dough in a wrap and let it rest for about 15 minutes. After that, stretch the dough to a thickness of about 0.5 cm and mold it. Keep the oven warm to 350 degrees (about 180 degrees).
Bake it in the oven for about 40 minutes. Remove the baked cookies from the oven and let them cool. If possible, leave it for about one night and let it drain thoroughly for a long time.
Although this recipe is for dogs, it can also be eaten by humans. The taste is like a hard cracker, and the scent of peanut butter is faint.
Alternatively, Ingredients
For a glass of 300ml
230g unsalted peanuts(roasted in the shell) or 25ml roasted and salted ones from the bag
Peanut oil (or sunflower oil, rapeseed oil, safflower oil, or germ oil)
A bit of salt
Preparation:
First, roasts the peanuts in a pan without adding any fat.
Then, peel the roasted peanuts.
You can save yourself this step completely if you want to take roasted and salted peanuts out of the bag. Then you don’t need to add extra salt later.
After roasting, the peanut oil and salt are crushed together in a blender.
You can either leave small peanut pieces in it (“crunchy”) or smash the peanut butter very finely (“smooth”). It depends on how you like peanut butter.
The peanut butter is then poured into a suitable glass. Small jam jars or preserving jars are best for this. More importantly, you can close it.
Since the peanuts still bring some warmth from roasting, the finished peanut butter is a little more liquid right after mixing. However, it will solidify in the refrigerator.
Note, If you don’t have peanut oil (you can find it in the larger supermarkets), you can also take sunflower oil, rapeseed oil, safflower oil, or germ oil
In contrast to industrially produced peanut butter, the home peanut butter can also be spread cool on the bread and does not become rock hard. It can be preserved for six weeks inside the refrigerator.
Ingredients to Avoid in Homemade Dog Snacks
When making your dog treats, you should avoid using some ingredients altogether. Some are dangerous to your dog’s health, while some are not needed at all and may cause your pet to feel stomach upset or other diseases.
Never use grapes or raisins or baby food that contains any ingredients. These foods are known to cause kidney failure in dogs and should be avoided at all costs.
Stay away from wheat and cornflour. Wheat is one of the biggest allergens in the canine world. White flour is highly processed, and most of the nutrients have been removed. Whole wheat flour made from oats, buckwheat, or rice is better for your dog and maybe for you. For non-grain flours, try almonds, coconut, or lentils.
Caffeine should be avoided. It may sound simple, but caffeine lurks in unexpected places. For example, green tea contains a lot of caffeine, which can cause vomiting, restlessness, and even seizures.
Xylitol is toxic to dogs and should be avoided at all costs.
Conclusion
Feeding your dogs homemade recipes can be a great option if you are suspicious of packaged products. This peanut butter will give your pets a lot of nutrients, and it’s inexpensive and easy to make.
